“Sella curulis” – “Vittoria Colonna” Museum of Modern Art, Pescara
100 x 150 cm
Installation featuring a canvas tapestry stitched with rope; wooden chair.
I conceived the installation as a theatrical scene where two monologues unfold: that of the artwork itself—*INSIDE V*, a low-relief canvas piece sculpted with rope that presents itself to the audience—and the silent monologue of a Presence-Absence (the artist’s), represented by the chair. The work is nearing completion. A final glance, a final reflection. The artist has stepped off the stage and moved away, yet the coils of rope on the chair keep him tethered to the piece like umbilical cords, emotionally bound as if in an embrace. It is a depiction of the final moments of the creative act, a time when everything remains interconnected and anything is possible. That moment just before—that unfathomable instant that defines the work as finished and autonomous, finally severed from its creator.
