INSIDE cycle
2018
Diameter 150 cm Canvas on a wooden frame. Cotton stuffing. Stitching, knots and tensioning with various cords.
In this work, the artist chose to work symbolically with the form of the circle. A form with neither beginning nor end. As if it were the lens of a microscope, to undertake the “journey within”, the “journeying within oneself”. Inside IV is part of her research into the Organic: going beyond the Canvas-Skin; entering the tissues, their networks and fibres, their dynamic lines; penetrating the infinite connections between cell and cell. To give greater emphasis to the connections and their paths, she unrolled balls of cord across the floor, symbolic pathways between the finite and its becoming, between the darkness of the indistinct and the light of vision, between the work and its creator.
Black – Atelier#2
The black of the walls of the studio became my cave. The light from the spotlights directed onto the cube enclosed by glass partitions illuminated the creative and research process: my progress. As if inside a space capsule, I began my journey into that absolute Black. The visitors, particles of reality, silently swimming within it, took part in this “making”, some with the desire to share the journey, others simply to be spectators, and still others to bear witness to the visionary eyes of an artist. Nothing could have conveyed better than this Black the state of concentration, research, effort and struggle involved in bringing a Work into being. To emphasise the focus of this “making”, I chose to work symbolically with the form of the circle, as if it were the lens of a microscope, to undertake the “journey within”, the journeying within oneself. Inside IV is part of my research into the Organic: going beyond the Canvas-Skin, entering the tissues, their networks and fibres, their dynamic lines, the infinite connections between cell and cell.
