Inside VIII is a work conceived during the quarantine period for the Coronavirus. Alone, confronted with the fragility and limitations of my being, with the perception of being trapped in a distortion of time, I found comfort in the depths of myself, in search of my roots, on a journey into the dark depths of the body, of the unconscious, in search of nourishment, grounding and comfort. In the work INSIDE VIII I represent my roots in their dynamic movement, both generative and rooted in personal and human experience. The roots have connected me to the Earth, to the voices of the Mothers; they have contained and nourished me throughout my continuous journey of research. Inside VIII is a tactile frame, an emotional fragment, a materialized testimony of this exploration. Sectioned by an imaginary scalpel and captured through a macro lens, it is the representation in progress of the reverberation of the real world within the body of the work. Following the vitalism of lines and forms, I represent my roots as a blood circulatory system that branches out from the head in a capillary manner into the darkest depths, weaving a nutritional fabric, a capillary network that explores every possibility of communication with the organism as a metaphor for being. The ascending and descending movement of the bas-relief or embroidered channels, the web of connections represented by the cords, the randomness of their crossings and knots, constitute the structure of the narrative of my journey. The infinite bonds, the connections, their continuous intersections, reveal the passage of time, which constantly weaves the organic fabric of being. Thus, the incessant movement of the lines and low-relief volumes tells of my feeling of thousands of pieces of information, memories, images, echoes of voices and ancient stories flowing within them. The primitive, simplified part of the work—cords, canvas and plant-based padding—contrasts with the figurative element created by the embroidery and the subtle bas-relief. Different expressive means and techniques, intended to create a compositional disturbance, a dichotomy without symmetry.
