ARTISTIC RESEARCH

Patrizia Trevisi’s research develops within the field of Biomorphic Organic Abstraction and Fiber Art, through a material language in which form, surface, texture and volume become tools for investigating the body, memory, and the relationship between human beings and nature.

DE REBUS NATURAE SERIES

De Rebus Naturae emerges at the heart of the Anthropocene, at the point of fracture where the relationship between human beings and the environment becomes strained, generating a new geography of the world.
The research records tensions, changes and metamorphoses within a transformation that is still unfolding. Nature is not a setting, but a sensitive body, a surface that retains traces, memories and wounds.
Sculptures and tapestries present themselves as remnants of an unstable present, in which natural and artificial materials meet, stratify and transform. Matter thus becomes the site of a continuous metamorphosis, through which reality is endlessly redefined.

INSIDE SERIES

INSIDE is a textile sculpture research project that explores the body as an inner landscape, traversed by tensions, transformations and memories.
Canvas becomes canvas-skin, a material to be shaped, sewn, stretched, torn and reassembled. Padding, plant fibres, stitching and embroidery construct organic forms in which surface and volume merge.
The body is not represented in an anatomical sense, but evoked through layering, growth, scar, suture, proliferation, congestion, pressure and expansion. In the INSIDE bas-reliefs, the exploration proceeds beyond the skin, as a kind of investigation through sections and layers of the organism’s textures.

GRANDI MADRI SERIES

Le Grandi Madri emerge from a research into primordial eros and generative power, in which the Great Mother Goddess constitutes a recurring presence.
Hypertrophic genital organs and large vulvas, conceived as wounds and openings, become symbols of the generative force of the Earth, of Natura naturans, intertwining Eros and Thanatos.
The motif of the nurturing breast, also created through canvas, sewing, embroidery and crochet, evokes the Great Mother and the value of the feminine, artisanal and affectionate gesture.

ARCHETIPI SERIES

The Archetypes emerge from the appearance of primordial images during a period of psychoanalytic research. Preserved for years as drawings, they are subsequently translated into three-dimensional forms.
The Archetypes in Boxes are isolated within transparent plexiglass containers, like objects on display and available for purchase: primordial images transformed into commodities, fetishes and simulacra, without nevertheless losing their disturbing force.
The skin-canvas is battered, torn open and stitched back together; clamps, stitches and ties hold the wounds open, revealing the inside and the hidden contents. The worn and archaic colour inscribes the dimension of time into the works.

SEDIMENTAZIONI SERIES

In Sedimentazioni, the surface becomes a site of accumulation and stratification. Signs, traces, matter and colour construct a dimension in which individual memory and the memory of matter overlap.
The surface is understood as a territory to be traversed, in which order and chaos, fullness and emptiness, enter into relation.

PLASTER WORKS AND BAS-RELIEFS

Research through plaster and bas-relief constitutes a fundamental part of Trevisi’s artistic path.
Seriality and the module generate aggregations in which each element retains its individuality while, together with the others, constructing a larger organism. Organic, archetypal and geometric forms combine through rhythm, fullness and emptiness, chiaroscuro and matter.

In the Arature series, the surface is excavated and layered, evoking a living Mother Earth, incised and fertilised, and a dimension of depth that becomes a metaphor for psychic stratification.
Texture constitutes a transversal component of the research: sign, trace and surface bring light and shadow, order and chaos, natural and artificial, rigid and soft, smooth and rough into relation.
