Inside XIII – Ares – Patrizia Trevisi Art Gallery

Scultura tessile dai forti volumi plastici, attraversati da un’intricata rete di corde, che come il sistema venoso percorre in modo caotico tutta la superfice. I volumi imbottiti formano una corazza a enfatizzare il suo portamento marziale. Ares rappresenta l'archetipo del guerriero, agisce, afferma la propria volontà e la propria verità: energia bellica che può trasformarsi in lotta perenne, competitività esasperata, sopraffazione. La figura del ‘guerriero’ esprime così sia la polarità dell’eroe, sia quella del distruttore.
La scultura antropomorfa di Ares è un corpo senza pelle; il costato è esposto come i resti della sua simbolica corazza e ci mostra, nell’arroganza del suo incedere, l’insensatezza della volontà di guerra.

Sewn textile sculpture in canvas – plant-based filling – Iron base.

A textile sculpture with strong sculptural volumes, crossed by an intricate network of cords which, like the venous system, runs chaotically across the entire surface. The padded volumes form an armour that emphasises its martial bearing. Ares represents the archetype of the warrior: he acts, asserts his will and his truth — a warlike energy that can turn into perpetual struggle, exacerbated competitiveness, and domination. The figure of the ‘warrior’ thus expresses both the polarity of the hero and that of the destroyer. Ares’s anthropomorphic sculpture is a body without skin; the ribcage is exposed like the remains of his symbolic armour and, in the arrogance of his stride, reveals the senselessness of the will to war.
